Bodrum is increasing their safety measures on the local beaches.12 security camera have been placed on the 5km Bitez beach.to ensure a safer area for tourists. Bitez Mayor Remzi Gungor has said theough the use of the cameras they aim to decrease the crime rate and to prevent street vendors disturbing tourists. With these cameras Bitez is under surveillance 24 hours.
The security cameras will be installed in Turgetries, Ortakent, Yahsi, Gundogan, Golturkbuku and Yalikavak within a month.
16.000 tourists visit Bodrum castle in four months (14-05-2007)
Bodrum’s Castle and Underwater Archeology museum received approximately 16.000 local and international tourists through its doors in the first 4 months of this year.Bodrum Castle and Underwater Archaelogy Museum’s Director Yasar Yildiz said that numbers for local visitors are down this year compared to last.
Last year 13.500 local tourists visited and only 10,000 this year. The entrance fee was increased from 3ytl to 10ytl in 2005 which seems to be the reason of having a negative impact on the falling numbers of local visitors.
Bodrum should be a brand (18-04-2007)
Bodrum’s own Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mahmut Kocadon made an opening speech to a conference of 400 representatives of the tourism and business sector to explain that “Image and Brand is a must for Bodrum”. These words have been spoken from Izmir’s Chamber of Commerce Ekrem Dermitas. He believes that Bodrum needs to prevent heavy construction and protect its cultural and historical textures. Having 40 years of progress it is about time Bodrum became a brand in tourism, sharing its tangerines, gullets, blue voyages, sponge fishing and the Tomb of King Mousolos to the tourists.(14-05-2007) Bodrums beaches under surveillance
