History of the Water Pipe

Humans discovered tobacco long before Jesus Christos was born. They recognized the pleasure when burning tobacco leaves during sacred rituals and ever since tobacco has been an indispensible stimulant.

The discovery of tobacco is found in many different cultures during history. The ways of tobacco consumption has been and still are pipe, cigar, cigarette and chewed in the mouths - but none of these has been as well matched as the water pipe.

The water pipe created its own culture in many hundreds of years. Grandfathers carried their water pipes around and introduced it to their grandchildren. Sometimes smoking water pipe took place gloriously at the Sultans and sometimes it was done quietly without attention among the poorest people.

The water pipe and its charming culture are in some sense returning to the glorious days in Turkey. The culture which brought its magic feeling to the tobacco grabs more attention and interest day by day.

The first water pipe was made by connecting a pipe to an emptied coconut shell. This was a new way of smoking Indian hemp. The coconut shell lost its place to a pumpkin through time. While the water pipe habit spread, porcelain and bronze bodied examples was developed and later tile, silver and at last glass bodied water pipes followed.

Water pipes still keep on being a pleasure during friendly conversation as addicts think there is no joy in smoking it alone! That is also why the water pipe houses are the best places to find that good and friendly conversation.
